Mercury 250 Pro XS V8 4stroke

Mercury 250 Pro XS V8 4stroke - 06/13/18 10:11 PM

I had a new motor delivered today (Mercury 250 Pro XS V8 4stroke).

I am running a 2015 NiTRO Z8 with a 2015 250 OPTI Pro XS currently with a Fury 25 prop. Will my new prop transfer over with the same performance, or will I need to
re-prop the Mercury 250 Pro XS V8 4stroke?

The v8 runs at a higher rpm, so most likely you will have to drop 1 or 2 inches in pitch. I’d run what you have first and once it’s broken in, you will know better what pitch to drop too.

They both have 1.75:1 gear rations and only a 200 rpm difference on top end so you should be ok.

Rpm range on that motor 5600 -6200 just have to make sure DemandLinear witch is requested handle position this should be at 100 % at WOT. then DemandLinear with Guardian -this tells you that that engine is not in Guardian should be 100 % at WOT then one other is Demand - this is the final demand value requested by the software. If the boat is propped correctly this should be at 100 % with the engine speed at 100 % I haven't got to run one yet but the days of just throwing a prop on one is gone. To check all of these readings engine has to be connected to diagnostic software G3 Have the dealer that is installing the engine take the boat to the lake and make sure all of these setting are correct. Your prop would be a best prop to start with.......OPTI

I saw some videos where the 250 Pro XS came with a 23 Fury that seemed a little too low in pitch. So a 25 Fury might be perfect. Here is the video.

Install hit a small snag (don't they always). The new Pro XS has the electrical harness connection moved from the front to the back of the motor, therefore an extension harness is required (and not sent with the new motor). Ordered today.

Odd, it’s been stated on bbc that the clean power harness is included. Sounds like merc made way too many options this time.
