trailer lighting - 05/07/18 11:34 PM

My boat has the snap in trailer lights that has the ground built into the light base. So it has pigtails with a single wire plug end that plugs into the back of the lights. Well one isnt working due to a bad ground in the rivet I believe, and another didnt have a pigtail to it at all. Firstly, I cant find these single post pigtails anywhere to add on to the existing wires.

Should I just pull all the wiring and run new? OR where can I get these single post pigtails?

Drill all rivets and use bolts?

Basically just looking for opinions.

Replace with led's and move on. Test existing wiring on the trailer to make sure it is good.

don't ground thru the trailer frame. run a dedicated ground wire to each light. i gave up. i now run the magnetic lights from Harbor Freight. i ran a 4 set wire from the tongue to the back of trailer and put a plug on both ends. i unplug the lights and put em in the tool box to launch and put em back on when i take the boat out of the water. haven't had a problem yet.

You buy so many boats should be an expert by now.Id put sealed leds all the way around and new wiring and pass the price on to the new owner..

You can buy the single wire led clearance lites at Walmart . Use screws with nyloc nuts and star washers for ground.
