Annual Maintenance / Check-Up

Annual Maintenance / Check-Up - 02/06/18 03:46 PM

What are some things to look at for annual maintenance / check-up? Things I can do myself? Things I need a mechanic to do? I have had this boat for almost 2 years but have never had it looked at by a boat mechanic. It's a 1992 Ranger 481V with a 1991 Evinrude 150. I've never had any major issues with it but it does take a few minutes of cranking/choking to get it started from a cold start. And when it does turn over it will shut off once or twice before it will stay running. Once it gets warmed up, it starts right up the first try. I'm not sure if that's normal for this age of motor or if I need to get that looked at?

For maintenance I know of changing the lower unit oil, water pump, and spark plugs (this will be the first time changing the spark plugs).

Would it be a good idea to get a compression test, change the inline fuel filter, inspect lower unit seals, and pressure test the lower unit?

I'm pretty new to boat maintenance so any help would be greatly appreciated.
