Blew a compressor for my fuel injectors last year and had 3 injectors replaced. Now I have a blown power head that I was quoted $7500-9000 to repair. Motor only has 270 hours. At what point would you cut your losses on this motor and repose your boat?

I definitely wouldn't pay $9000 to rebuild that motor. That's insane.

This is the reason why I don’t want another 2 stroke merc.

My insurance claims adjuster called me back and said that he will open up the insurance claim from April of last year and just total out the motor and send me a check. Basically I just paid off a blown motor and I just had to pay my $500 deductible last year. I sure do love Allstate! I'm going to pay for my Honda 200 4 stroke on Tuesday and get it shipped.

That is what everyone keeps telling me. I had no intention on spending that much on the rebuild and that insane quote helped convince my insurance adjuster to total the motor. It all worked out in the end.

How on earth would the insurance company cover a blown powerhead without htting something? Heck if Allstate provides coverage like that for a blown powerhead I may have to switch insurance companies when I get My next boat!

They said it is no different that using car insurance for a blown motor. That's why I have full coverage through Allstate.

Never heard of using insurance over a blown motor on a car or boat. Learned something today.

I think I may forget to run oil in my motor on my next outing.

Allstate got the estimate Monday afternoon and called me after he mailed my check yesterday at lunch time. I know two other people that claimed power heads on their Allstate insurance and they were happy to pay for it without any push back at all.
