wanted to get thoughts on charging my cranking battery: Interstate marine new in june, decided to pull battery out of boat and charge at the house.put it on charger in garage on 12/27. checked before charge[11.69v] set charger on 2amp. Let charge for appx 14hrs, volt went to 12.14. let it sit for bout 5hrs.volt still 12.14v. Put charge at 10amp. for 5hrs checked after it sat to cool down.its at 12.23v.?? what the h*&%#@* ll HELP.

It still has not come up to full charge. If its a normal flooded cell acid battery it will get to 12.7 volts when fully charged.
Without knowing your battery size and capacity I can't predict how long you need to charge it. If you have a higher amperage setting, do that. They can charge at 15 amps, no problem. At 2 amps going from 11.69 volts (under 40%) charge, you have along way to go.
At 12.23 volts you are at 60%. Keep charging. I would say at least another 10 hours at 2 amps. A 2 amp charge is just slightly higher than a maintenance charge.

At 11.69V, you had already let the battery sit in a discharged state. That's not good at all. Had you ever been checking/charging it since new? ....or using it and leaving it in a less than fully charged state was the norm?
Big batteries don't charge at 2 amps. You need to do a little reading on the Interstate website about battery care. Your "new" battery will probably never be the same again from lack of proper care. You need to get a battery hydrometer to check each cell. A good one can be had for as little as $10 (Amazon, sometimes auto parts stores). If the battery is heating up a good bit but not charging, you have one or more dead cells (typical result of lack of care). Based on what I'm hearing, my bet is on the need for yet another battery.

Thanks guys for the response. Battery is group 24 / 1000 mca. Got volts to 12.46v. guess I will put on 10 amp for 5hrs.

What battery charger are you using?
If you battery has been sitting for a while in a discharged state its going to be sulfated. To recover, you need to find a smart charger with a desulfator / recondition mode. Desulfators use either high voltage 24-36v or high frequency charging to remove the sulfate off the lead plates.
Also, why not just warranty out the battery for a new one?
