Garmin 73sv

Garmin 73sv - 09/08/17 10:39 AM

Ordered this unit last night...Did quite a bit of research and liked all that I found. I like you can link two units (I will, before spring, grab a 93sv for the bow of my boat) with just combining a wire from both.

Anyways, just wanted to hear some feedback from guys that have it already.

Seems like a pretty good bang for your buck.

Have had 73dv for a couple years and love it. Just got a 73sv and really like it as well. Both are mounted on the trolling motor with the 73dv being primarily used for Panoptix. Have a 1042xsv on the console but was surprised how much I use the SideVu on the trolling motor when cruising banks or creeks. You'll like it.

You need a different transducer for panoptix right?

Yes. The PS21 transducer will work on that unit. Runs around $800

I'm doing the same exact thing, bought a 73sv last winter currently at the console and love it, with plans to buy a 93sv and move the 73 to the bow. I came to the same conclusion about best bang for your buck after demoing all big 3 brands, garmin had a better image than lowrance and comparable to the bird helix, the new mega imaging is obviously better though. Garmin really figured something out working around the lowrance down imaging patent, one thing I will say garmin is lacking in is the detail of their mapping chips aren't there yet with the competitors. But no big deal for me as I'm not running all over to rayburn or amistad fishing lakes I don't know plus you can create your own maps with garmins quickdraw contours feature, an I've already found stuff that not on my hotmaps chip on my old lowrance.

One thing I noticed while at a bassmaster elite event last year, all the guys who did not have sonar sponsors were running garmin!, I'm sure theres a reason who_knows
