What would you do with this trailer

What would you do with this trailer - 07/11/17 02:28 AM

Some yahoo I know backed this trailer into a pipe fence after dark. Frame is bent enough so that the diagonal measurement of the cross beams differ by 5-6". You can see that the center reflector is quite a bit off center from the tongue. The axles are also out of alignment (although I don't believe bent, but the springs). Trailer was replaced by insurance (mostly), but insurance company also waived their right to the damaged trailer. I don't want the headache or the liability of trying to straighten the trailer myself. I would consider selling to someone who understands the damage and wants to salvage it for their use. Or, maybe it's best to try to sell axles, wheels, winch, etc to a trailer shop and take the rest to metal recycler?

I'd part out and sell on Craig's list. You'd be luck to get much from a trailer shop.

You got a new trailer. Sell the tires and wheels on CL if you can and let it go for scrap.

Have a frame shop straighten it. Be a no brainer for an expert.

I'd take bronco71's $150 offer & go. You're rid of it, he gets a good deal to work with, everybodies happy. JMHO

I've seen trailers pulled back into square using a come-a-long on diagonal corners. Tiy have to over tweak it a little so that it springs back where you want it, not hard to do. Check it all over for cracked welds, fix that, check axle alignment and call it good.

I'd list it on craigslist as is. There's always someone who wants to buy cheap and fix it themselves. Especially someone who only needs a trailer once or twice a year and doesn't want to pay the prices that people ask for them.
