Skeeter FX 21 - HDS 9 at the Bow - remount help needed

Skeeter FX 21 - HDS 9 at the Bow - remount help needed - 04/20/17 04:11 PM

I currently have a HDS 9 mounted in the front plate of my FX 21 - My neck is a freaking mess and looking down at the thing does not have a good result...would like to lessen the bend in my neck by moving to a raised position.

I have ordered a replacement plate to fill the hole and am looking for best suggestions for a remount that will raise the graph and allow for some articulation to get it to the most comfortable spot (realizing I will still be looking down roflmao)

Anyone have any cool set up suggestions.

Hmm, don't know of any five foot tall mounts.

Here's another option. He makes a taller bracket that gets the unit up about 10". If you get it too high, it will obstruct your view when up on plane.

The older I get, the less I care about how I look or what others think. I'd probably go pretty far if it meant being able to fish vs having to give it up.

With that said, you probably have a ton of extra cable under your bow. I wouldn't hesitate to install this and disassemble each time I moved vs risking a neck injury.

Just put a ram mount on your deck. Then use an extension pole while fishing. They make them in 1 or 2 inch ball sizes and up to 2 feet long. With the pivot mount fixed to your graph you can mount to the deck for running and install the extension as needed.

Here is a better example. Look at the first picture he has of his boat. As needed, the extension pole goes between the articulating section and the ball mount. You can raise or lower as needed.

And...I just thought of this... If/when your condition improves you just slip the extra cable back behind the bow plate and stop using the extension.

This looks like a great long term plan! I had fusion in my neck 4 years ago - my neck already takes a freaking beating in rough water!

On all but the roughest water I would see you taking a step back rather than bending your neck to see the graph. Also, don't overlook the fact you can use more than one of them for even more height and/or articulation.

I just ordered one of these! Bought a blank plate to fill the hole and will lock it all together next weekend.

I've noticed a few of the elite guys are using something that looks like that ballzout mount that gets the graph about a foot off the deck securely. Seems like you are still going to be looking down with that other mount. I really wasn't being a smart arse earlier. Looking at a graph up front may suck for awhile till you fully heal up. Sounds like a good excuse to fish shallow year round to me. Not even turn on the bow graph.

I do love hitting deep fish in the mouth here in a couple months tho and want to be ready!

I never understood the reasoning for having a fish finder mounted so you have to look at the deck. But then, I don't fish for ditch pickles. I guess it looks cool but you gotta have the LEDs around the outside to finish it off to be mega-cool.
