Been boat shopping and will need a trolling motor. Did I read somewhere that certain troll motors are more suited to certain brand of sonar/graph/fish finders or is that no longer the case? Lookin mostly at the Minn Kota powerdrive v2.

It won't matter with that model. Yes some trolling motors match up with certain graphs for special features, not the one you're looking at though.

Minnkota and Motor Guide have models with a built-in 2D sonar transducers. Both have adapters to work with most sonar units/brands.
The latest "tool" is a sonar unit connected to the steering function of electric-steer motors. Then the choices would be Motor Guide/Lowrance or Minnkota/Humminbird. Those would not be interchangeable.
