Ulterra "reinvented spot lock" upgrade kits now available - 12/01/16 03:09 PM

I talked to Minn Kota this morning and they now have a upgrade kit for the older Ulterra's.
The kit has a new head, remote and heading sensor. I was quoted $450.00 plus shipping.

I asked if the kit would work with the terrova's and they said not unless the terrova was built in the last 3 weeks.

Tag to follow.....

Interesting....I have not heard of such a creature. One would believe that if they have an upgrade for the Ulterra they would have one for the Terrova. I was hoping a kit would be available for upgrades but was advised a entire motor would need to be purchased to obtain the new spot lock "anchor feature"
I just called my rep and she has no knowledge of any upgrade.

Now there is an upgrade kit on the 2106 and earlier models from i-Pilot to i-Pilot link.

All I know is what I posted. There are several other people on another forum that have been told the same as I was by Minn Kota.

That 450 is a good price compared to the legacy link accessory which was anywhere from 650 - 800.

That might be a price just for an ipilot unit. They ran around $450 as opposed to around $750 for the ilink. Mine is pretty accurate IMO and I wouldn't upgrade the head because you still wouldn't get the benefit of a quieter motor.

Are you seeing this "upgrade kit" with the new 2017 i-Pilot system for the 2016 and earlier model i-Pilot system for the Ulterra for sale somewhere?

No... I called their sales department several months ago and asked about an accessory being available for upgrade and was told there wasn't gonna be one.You would have to purchase a new 2017 factory installed system to get it. Now I didn't ask specifically for the Ulterra though.

I-Pilot is I-Pilot when it comes to Ulterra, Terrova or PowerDrive V2. If they made an upgrade kit for the Ulterra it would work for the others. Unless I am missing something. I have been told across the board for the new i-Pilot and i-Pilot Link system that the purchase of the entire trolling motor would be in order.

They show a different model number between the terrova and Powerdrive v2. For some reason on their site, I don't even see an option for upgrades to link for the ulterra. Everything else shows a model for it.
