humminbird chirp

humminbird chirp - 10/25/16 01:00 AM

Just got my helix 12 in and got to play with it today. I love it. I have tried youtubing some videos on the chirp but only finding a very general overview of it. Where can I find some more in depth information about it on the helix so I can figure out how to adjust it? I already love it. Instead of baitballs being a blob in 2d, it has enough seperation that I can count the baitfish in 2d. I'd like to find out when to use high, high/med and medium chirp as well as adjusting the ranges in each.

Just heard from Dr. Sonar today, he just produced a Helix DVD that covers CHIRP. Check his website---https://www.fishntech.com/doctor_sonar.html

So I have a Helix 12 on the way, I will mount it on the gunnel next to the console. I currently have my 998 mounted there on a Johnny Ray that I like fine. Any suggestions on a mount I may like better? Thanks in advance.

I have a ram swing arm on my console with the Helix 12, works great

Can you quickly remove your 12 for storage? Looks like it has a lot of adjustment.

I just take it off the gimbal bracket, but its not real bad takes a few minutes.

I use this for the bow but you can use it for the console as well. Just as sturdy as a balzout mount but a lot easier to adjust. And removes real easy from the boat

Balzout Mounts. Not cheap but quality. Actually, not much more than the Ram unit it would take to hold a big graph and it looks really well made.

I was lucky, my dash is flat and I was able to mount mine with nothing more than the gimbal bracket with just enough room on each side to reach between it and the shield to remove it. I had my 899 mounted on the gunnel beside the console and it was fine but this thing is so big, I don't think that I'd like it sticking off the side of my boat.

I have a lot of room on the gunnel but I think I'm going to wait till my 12 gets here and tinker with nothing it to figure out what will work best. Thanks for all the good input guys, y'all have been lots of help.
