Lake Fork Boat Lanes Download Question

Lake Fork Boat Lanes Download Question - 09/19/16 10:01 PM

I recently acquired a pre owned Lake Fork boat lanes card that came from boatlanes.com. Its made for a hummingbird. When I put the card in my 998C I don't get the "The Upload Nav Data from SD card ConfirmBox should  display". Any advice would be great.

I just went through the same issue on the same unit. How large is your SD card? I had a 64g card and it wouldn't work. Someone posted it needed to be less than 32. I put it on another smaller card and it worked without any issues and I got the pop up message immediately.

Hey thanks for the advice. I saw your post right after I put this one up. I'm gonna try using a smaller card.

Ok so now I'm able to put in the card and am prompted with the upload data yes/no. When I select "yes" it says "no new data" and goes back to the main screen. Ever seen that happen?

That means it loaded the data and recognizes it has already done so.

You have to edit the tracks (boat lanes) so you can easily see them. They load as faint grey dotted lines--that is the Default Saved Tracks setting.

Ok. Before I uploaded the data I believe I edited that as instructed in the boatlanes.com download instructions. I'll check again to ensure they were edited. Does it make a difference if they're edited before or after the download?

Wayne, How do I "edit the tracks" to make them more visible? My unit is an 1197.

Were you able to get them uploaded? I had dime more tracks and waypoints sent to me and couldn't get them to upload. I ended up buying Microsoft Windows for my MAC and downloaded Hummingbird PC. Easy to use and solved all of my issues.

I'm gonna try tomorrow. I haven't had a chance in the last few days. Will post results.

Same way you edit a waypoint to change the name, icon, or whether it is visible.

You find the tracks in the unit's Waypoint Library. Highlight a track, push the right arrow of the 4-way button and you will get a menu, select EDIT, then you will get a panel with several lines, two of the lines are line type and color. You change those with the 4-way button, then scroll down to SAVE and right arrow the 4-way button. You have to do each one and don't forget to SAVE each time.

Anytime you do a Restore Defaults, those lines will be set back to the Default light grey dotted lines and you will have to EDIT them again.

Got it to work. I THINK I know what I did wrong. The card I got didn't have the actual download on it. It was marked boatlanes.com and came from a friend, but he must have deleted the files unknowingly. I purchased the download and downloaded it to the SD card. I was almost home free but ran into two more problems. First was the existing matrix file on the SD card. I did as instructed in the download instructions but missed one detail. There can only be 1 matrix file on the SD card and it must be the boatlanes.com matrix file. Once I switched that out I ran into problem 2. When I inserted the card and hit yes to upload Nav data, it said I did not have enough memory. I deleted some old stuff and made enough memory. Uploaded no problem after that.

What I learned. Follow their instructions exactly and don't just skim through them and think you'll figure it out. All problems I ran into were either user error or my own equipment. Nothing was caused by the boatlanes.com software.

Final note. I called customer service toward the end of this. About 20 minutes after calling and leaving a message I figured the problems out and got it to work. Five minutes after that I got a call from their customer service (at 7 pm). Absolutely AWESOME!!! He even gave me a few pointers on how to use it safely.

Thanks Wayne. I'll try this next weekend.

Wayne, that worked. Now my boat lanes are clearly visible. Thanks!
