Optima Blue Top Batteries... - 01/19/16 08:25 PM

Does anyone run the Optima blue top batteries. I have a ranger z521c with the minn kota onboard charger and I was talking to someone the other day and they said that the onboard charger I have will damage the AGM optima blue top batteries... Im looking to get some new batteries because during a tournament if I run my units and livewells all day toward the end of the day I have to use the jump start... I am looking into getting the 31 size cranking and 3 31s for the trolling motor...

you should not have a problem whatsoever. i love the blue tops, they are lighter, and warranty is much better. if the price doesn't scare you (i assume you already know that you get what you pay for in your boat), i would absolutely recommend them. i would buy them at Sam's Club if possible, better price.

I like to move this up. As i am needing to replace my Optima blue top batteries. What is the battery that everyone uses now. These have lasted me 6 years. But i am thinking about getting a 36 volt trolling motor and also i bought a new motor. Looking for something that will last like the blue tops did.

Good luck with finding a better battery (in my opinion). Any battery that will last me 6 years, is well worth the money they cost.

Sears stopped making Diehard platinum series so I had to get an Optima Blue Top to pair with my Diehard Platinums. Not anywhere near the same cranking amps as the Diehards, but the Optima was $100 cheaper.

I have been reading for days. I haven't found any battery that has the warranty and cranking amps of the Blue tops.
My Question now is is it worth the extra money and is the preference there to get all OPTIMA® Batteries 8052-161 - D31M Group 31 BLUETOP® Dual Purpose (Deep-Cycle & Starting)

So 4 in total.
