Lowrance Gen 2/3 5.0 Software Update

Can't get it open using Acrobat Reader DC. Anyone else having issues?

Are you trying to open the Release notes? If yes you need to install Acrobat Reader on you're computer.
For the upate itself its direct download to you're MSD card and install on you're Gen3

the TOUCH Gen 2 file is a .upd file. All you have to do is download that file and drag-n-drop ( copy ) that file to a SSD card. Then insert the card and turn the unit ON. it will see the update ( .upd file ) and do it's thing.. do not power the unit off during the update process. The unit will reboot itself once it's completed. You can then remove the SSD card.

I always take the SSD card back to my computer and DELETE the file.

Normally, Lowrance packages the update as a ZIP file or Compressed... but in the case of the Gen 2 5.0 Touch update, they didn't ZIP it.. they simply have the file available to download and copy to the card. Hence, no need to un-zip or de-compress this update like previous HDS updates.
