iPad with Navionics

iPad with Navionics - 12/10/15 02:27 AM

Does anyone use an iPad or such on their boat with the Navionics app? I'm kinda rethinking the console on my boat and am trying to decide if I want to install an SI graph in front of me or an iPad I can use for the charts. I would probably still use a GPS on the SI unit I am looking at buying so I can have reference for the sonar images but I think the main navigation will be with the iPad.
As for that note, does anyone know who makes custom panels for consoles? I need to basically rearrange the gauges to make room for whatever I decide to do as well as have the hole cut for the iPad or graph.

I do but you must be aware that under a bright sun the screen is barely visible.
I'm running a Gen3 and I always link my IPad with my Gen3 to improve or create maps.
I also use a lighter adapter wth usb plug-in to keep my IPad charge.

How do you have the iPad mounted on the boat? Don't they also have anti-glare screen protectors that help with the sun on the screen issue?

Ram mount and Life-proof case. I didn't hear good comments on those anti-glare screen protector

I used to have my Ipad mounted in the dash of my 2012 Skeeter FX 20. I used the lifeproof case with the lifeproof cradle and utilized the hole in the dash from the flush mount 998 that was in the dash. I loved it because I could do a lot of stuff on the Ipad such as weather, music etc. I will see if I have any pics of my install.

Pics would be nice. Did you take it out for something else or do you not have that boat anymore?

At the time, I had an 1198 still Ram mounted to the side of the console as well. And now with Sonar Charts live, you can watch the contours be updated as you fish.
