I have a 998ci si at my console and thinking about getting the helix 7 to put at the bow.. Will those two you link together?
The Helix 7 series are a stand alone unit and are not net-workable.

Yes, the 9, 10, and 12 series are Ethernet capable.
The Helix 9, 10, and 12 will require the Humminbird AS EC QDE Ethernet Adapter Cable
