Hummingbird pairings - 11/27/15 05:22 PM

I am going to splash out and purchase a Hummingbird Helix 7 si combo as my console electronics, I have never had electronics at the front of the boat so which model do you think will be best for pairing?

None of the Helix 7 series can be linked to another unit to share data or anything else.

If sharing is not what you want, then another Helix 7 SI GPS unit would be a good choice for the bow.

Go to HB's website. They have a page that lets you see exactly what is networkable.

Do you have a need to pair? Some do and some don't. A helix is a great unit at a great price. If I am not mistaken the new ones coming may be able to network

The Helix 9, 10, and 12 series are networkable. They are replacing the discontinued networkable units.

Dealers already have some 9's and 10's.

So if I buy the Helix 7 for the console what unit would be best for the bow, do I really need another Helix 7 or would something with less features be best. Or is the another set of units for $1500 that would be better.

IMHO, the Side Imaging versions are "best" for the bow or console, you can settle for less technology if you want.

If you like the 7" display, there are six Helix 7 models.
The next size down is the Helix 5 and there are nine versions of that.
There are SI models, DI models, 2D models and some without GPS/mapping including KVD SI versions with red bling.
Pick your price range and technologies.

The Helix series is replacing all the models that have numbers in their model name (688ci HD DI Combo, 999ci HD SI Combo, 859ci HD DI Combo, 1199ci HD SI Combo, 1159ci HD DI Combo, etc.)

The way that I look at it is for a nominal extra price, you get the extras and if you don't use them then so what. If you buy the lesser model, it will cost you more in the long run having to sell the original then buy another unit with everything. For me one of the most important features is screen size. That bow mounted one will be about 6' from you so how good are your eyes?

Only you can decide which unit is best for you. If you are going to buy atleast one helix 7, why not just buy the one and play with it for awhile then decide what features you want?

Thank you everyone, you have given me some things to think about & probably some more studying to do. Appreciate the insight.

Save up a few more $ and get a pair of Helix 9's.

If I can ever sell my trolling motor I want to get a Helix 10 to set beside my Onix 10 in the console.

My Helix 9 Si/gps is on the way, can't wait to have it installed and hit the lakes. If it truely is as good as it sounds then I'll be getting another Helix 9 or possibly 10.
Gotta say finding the new Helix 9 was hard work but i am sure it will be worth it.
