Seeing lure on screen and stopping TM Interference

Seeing lure on screen and stopping TM Interference - 11/25/15 07:49 PM

Hey Guys,

I'm out here trying to spoon (not cuddle) bass in 30 feet of water but am having some issues. How do I see the lure move on the screen up and down. What sensitivity setting and chart speed is good? I have switch fire ON and the 200/83 band. O it is a Humminbird 997C by the way.

Lastly, how do I stop the red vertical lines and interference everytime I step on the TM? And what are some good general settings?

I watched a YouTube video by Edwin Evers a while ago about tracking lure on screen, but I can't figure it out.

Thank you.

First of all you have to set the screen scroll to the max speed so the unit can record the spoon being moved.

Next select Switchfire MAX,, there is no "ON", the choices are CLEAR and MAX. Adjust the SENSITIVITY to clear out most of the clutter but still pick up the spoon.

Contact Humminbird Customer Service for help with RFI and describe in detail what your installation is. They can help you. There are dozens of possible remedies, each installation is unique.
If you have never had RFI before, your trolling motor may need fixing (brushes) or you damaged the transducer cable.

Excellent. Thanks for that! It seems to be showing the lure now! I do have the transducer puck mounted to the bottom of the Minn Kota TM and it's stable. I'll prob bring boat in to get looked at as I'm not too good electronically with wiring. And what is RFI?

Also, about how many feet around the TM should it be able to pick up my lure? It sems that right now in 20 to 30 ft of water I'm not able to see the lure unless it's within 2 feet of the TM. I was hoping to have this work within 4 feet or so.

At 30', the spec coverage for 200 kHz is 20 degrees or 10' in diameter. For 83 kHz it is 60 degrees or 30' in diameter. The actual coverage is more at a lesser pulse strength than the spec of -10 db.
