Lowrance PLEASE HELP - 06/13/15 10:19 PM

I just bought a boat. I wanted (and paid for) a HDS 9" GEN 3. I went to pick up the boat today and it had a GEN 2 on it. Now I've never owned a fancy graph but when I was rigging out the boat I told him I want to make sure the down and side imaging and all that works on it and he assured me it would. Now I paid with the banks help 2800 for the unit the dang box had a sticker for 1799. he also told me when I picked it up the down and side was extra option I had to buy. Anyways he says he will order the 3 and it will just plug right in they wont have to change the transducer. Does anyone know if hes right or is it all different? and should it have the down and side? Please help before he rips me off more. BTW he didn't want to give me a transom saver or anything to hold the motor up I threw a little bit of a fit infront of some other customers he got me one.

I think you got screwed and I'd be looking at my sales receipt.

By doing a little research in the lowrance page, it looks like the 2800 should cover both the unit and the structure scan (side and down imaging). About the compatibility of the gen 3, i know it will work perfectly with the transducers from the gen 2. I hope it all goes well. Good luck.

$2200 for HDS 9g3. ( $1800 for a 9Tg2 )
$299 for the StructureScan Transducer
$70 for the Sonar transducer.
* it's unknown what he spent rigging it all together or if he installed TSS bracket or jack plate shield... Those would be extra.

** my prices listed above are you doing some homework to find the lowest possible price online ( bbgmarine.com ) and does NOT include any installation cost. Retail prices would be much higher.

Well go ahead and throw out the dealerships name.

I was just worried with this "chirp" the gen 3 has, that the sonar transducer wouldn't work. And I did show him on the receipt and he claims it was an honest mistake. He was under the impression they had no more and could get no more gen 2. He wrote on the sales order Lowrance HDS 9- $2800 so as to what model I guess they left that up to the tech installing the stuff I ordered. And as for Grout-Scout let me get this deal squared away and I will gladly give out names to steer people away.

It could be an honest mistake, not all dealers are very good keeping up with the changes. You'd assume they would be but I've learned from my local dealer that they are not. Anyways, yes the ducer they installed will give you kinda chirp. For a true chirp you would need a very expansive Airmar transducer but that would be extra cost.

Congrats on your new boat, what did you get?

Thanks! I got a Bluewave 2000 Purebay. She's pretty. Oh and while I'm slinging mud. I told him I wanted a 3 blade and he put a 4 and told me they didn't have a 3 but I'll really like that 4. I'm making him order the 3.

Re: Lowrance PLEASE HELP - 06/14/15 03:08 PM

In not a coastal expert but I do know you will have a faster holeshot with the 4 blade. Faster holeshot for those shallow bay flats. Now if you're just going to fish freshwater then the 3 will give you more top end. Just make sure it's a stainless steel prop either way.

Whew. Just caught a break in the rain to go install the battery trays and batteries for the trolling motor. I guess when I told him hey don't worry about batteries I got a whole pallet that meant. "I'll never need them." Don't install the trays.

It sounds to me like you got a sorry [censored] dealer of you just didn't understand their lingo when you were making the deal. You might have him look at your posts here and make some response.

Re: Lowrance PLEASE HELP - 06/26/15 07:07 PM

Okay guys finally got my boat back from the dealer yesterday exactly how I had ordered it. They did do everything that we had agreed upon. I'm glad they did make everything right. WITH that being said I have NO intention on taking my boat back to that place. EVER! Master Marine in San Antonio. Place is terrible. One time I went in and asked for my sales guy/service manager and the guy just said "yeah he's here you'll have to find him". So I just started walking around YELLING his name till they finally decided to be a bit more helpful.
