Ultrex and Hummingbird Mega Imaging Graph

I want to mount a hummingbird mega imaging graph on my boat and I'd like to put the graph on the front of the boat at the bow.

Questions:
1. Has someone done this and used the transducer that comes with the graph? Any issues I should be aware of?
2. If you did do this, did you mount the transducer to the bottom of the trolling motor and use some sort of a guard?
3. Did down imaging and side imaging work, of course keeping in mind the fact that movement of the trolling motor impacts the image and results?
4. Did you hook the US2 from the trolling motor up, to perhaps another graph already on the bow? Interference?
5. Do you like the result, do you regret not putting it at the console?

I have a Helix 12 Chirp Mega SI combo on my Ultrex. Love it. I did not utilize the built-in transducer.

1. Yes with MEGA Imaging and Side Imaging from other models.
2. With the Humminbird AD MTM
3. Works great if you set the Chart Speed to the GPS speed. Been doing it with Side Imaging for about 10 years.
4. Makes no sense to do that since the SI transducers have a 2D crystal in them.
5. see #3. Just have to use common sense and realize that Imaging has to scan to produce the picture-like images. Actually produces sharper images than with a transom mounted transducer since there is no disturbed water from the hull passing over the transducer like at the transom.

I am thinking about an Ultrex and a Helix 10 Mega for the front of mine.

I need to get with you about this and see how much $$$ I'll need!

I run a Solix 12 SI up front on my ultrex as well and used the mount from Transducer Shield and Saver. It works great, I wanted something solid for when I am in or around timber or shallow water and not have to worry about breaking a transducer. Very happy with it and super easy install.

Did you hook up the US2 from the ultrex?

Food for thought fellas...No more damage will occur to the transducer by using the AD MTM verses the TM-HX-3. Plus the AD MTM will assist in eliminating the possibilities of creating RF noise "electrical interference"

No I did not use the US2 from the Ultrex. I have the SI/DI transducer and a 360 hooked up to the front unit.

The AD MTM comes with a RFI choke to go between the onboard battery charger and starting battery if you have a multi-bank charger that does the trolling motor battery/s and starting battery.

If you haven't bought the Ultrex yet, you now can get Ultrex with built in Mega transducer. I want to set mine up the same way with Mega DI on bow. Now I'm glad I hadn't ordered the Ultrex yet. No more external transducer,external cable routing,having to buy Shield Saver for transducer.
I'll stick with SI on jackplate mount console unit. G2N units networked.

The new transducer is supposed to greatly reduce the RFI issues if not totally eliminate it

The optional Minn Kota built-in Humminbird Mega DI transducer is only DI/2D sonar.

Makes sense, figure most will use DI/2D off TM up front, and 360 if so inclined, and do any side imaging ie searching for structure, etc from console?

That would be my basic plan if the 'bird fairy visited my garage .
