I have always wrapped my pumps in screen to avoid them getting things stuck in them.

can you access it easily? If so remove, clean and reinstall. If not then try a pressure wash or even blower. Not sure how it is wired up but might just put a switch and make it a manual.

I'm going to try the high pressure tire scrub at the car wash on the whole area. Pumps are at the very bottom of the bilge area in an FX21.

I had an old switch that shorted out and ran all the time. Might see if that is the issue.
