Lake Welsh Team Opens Starts Nov 28

Well guys its that time of year again. We will be starting the opens on welsh on November 28.....Entry fee will be $60.00 per team or individual,big bass included 5 fish limit must be 18 inches or over. Guys please do not bring in a short fish to wiegh in Your catch will not count if you do.We will let everyone know take off time at ramp the morning of tournament. Fishing times will be from 6:30 am till 3:00 pm.You must be in weigh in line with fish by 3:00 pm.We will payback 100% at ramp on every tournament.We will be there at 5:30am down at the ramp to take entries. I went today lake is up and the fishing sucked no one should show up all winter... that is all

Report: It's already getting hammered

Fishing was good, but that lake is still about 2-3 weeks away from being really good water temp by the dam was 74 water temp in the outlet was 84. Fishing was slow until you found them, then it was game on for 10-15 fish in a row. I will say the fish we caught were in the 2-4lb range not many small ones yesterday.

Im planning on being there, fished a few last year and enjoyed them.

Fishing was good Sat we started early due to the postponed tournament of Chris Davis.But even with high winds Saturday 1 st place was 20 lbs 5 oz 2nd place was 20 lbs 3 oz and 3 rd was 19 lbs 5 ozs.We will be down at ramp at 5 30 am to start taking entries.

So did you hold a tourney there this past sat? I thought I seen a post stating the 21rd a month or so ago. Couldnt find anything but the 28th when I tried to search it again. Figured I just read wrong the first time

Yes we will still be fishing next Saturday, I will be there at 5 30 am at picnic table to take entries. And I will stop at 6 20 am. And yes lake is open during the week. See yall there.

There was only 5 boats.That was all day no one else wanted to fish in rain I guess, but yea fishing was very good everyone caught fish.We ll be there Saturday you're welcome to come and fish with us.

thinking of showing up Sat but wondered with all of the rain does the lake get high and muddy? Our lakes around here are up and muddy. Thanks

Lake Welsh doesn't have a lot of feeder creeks flowing into the lake so it doesn't get as high as some of the other east texas lakes. I have been familiar with Welsh since 1983 and fished it several times in December and January and don't recall ever seeing it muddy. It has a good supply of submergent grass which does a good job of filtering the lake. I have had some of my best days with the lake during the rain and when it was full. lots of structure and cover to choose from including shoreline cover, submerged grass, wood, creek channels, humps, and points. This time of year is usually awesome for numbers and size of fish and water temp is usually in the 60s to 70s which is awesome for this time per year.

It should be another good day of fishing, we'll see you at the ramp!

We had 21 boat show .1st place was Joe and Arron with 22.3 lbs 2nd place Brain and Lance with 20.9 lbs 3rd place Billy and Randy with 20.3 lbs 4 th place Bubba and Mike with 19.7 lbs 5 th place David and Steve with 18.10 lbs and Big Bass was Chris and Danny with 5.13 lbs those were the top 5 places paid with 21 boats .good day of fishing.Hope to see yall next weekend.

Lots of fish caught over the 18" minimum and many more right below the minimum length. Fun day of fishing and weather was fantastic to be outdoors. That is the best I have seen that lake in several years. Water looks good, lake is full and hydrilla looks great!! See you guys at the lake.

Results?? I had a terrible day. Caught 6 fish and 1 keeper all day... Did everything from topwater to drop-shot and couldnt buy a bite.

when we left Billy and partner had it with 17 something.
Joe Setnia had 16 and change.
We only manager 4 for a little over 14, if I could have helped my partner out with a keeper we could have been a contender. But that's how it goes.
It was a grind for keepers today. The lake has been getting hammered every day for a while.
