Congratulations!
I've wanted to bag one of those for a long time now. Guess I'll have to get in touch with Banker...

Thanks Capt. Mac! Banker is the cichlid king... he can definitely put you in front of the fish. He's a great guy to boot.

I've never seen one of those so congratulations ! Are those located only in a specific area ?

Re: Finally...First Rio On The Fly - 07/07/17 04:09 AM

Thanks RonL for the reply. Not sure of the range, but I've seen them caught as far west as Camp Wood, and at least as far north as Georgetown. They are also plentiful in the Austin/San Antonio area. banker-always fishing is the expert, he's the one that put me in front of Rios today.

Will failed to tell you guys that his Rio is the pending Catch&Release Flyrod Rio Grande Cichlid record for the Sabinal River. Paper work was sent to the Texas Parks&Wildlife Dept. this morning. It was a true blessing watching Will fight that fish on the fly. He was working a far bank when he nailed that fish. Always enjoy watching a super angler working the water! Huge CONGRATULATIONS Will on catching a SUPER fish. rockon

Side Note: Story posted in Bluegill Section!

Congrats! I was going to say that it sure looked to be decent sized with a very prominent head bump or whatever it's called. Not surprised it's a record for the Sabinal at all.

Thanks Laker One! Any flies that did particularly well, or is the most important thing the color?
