That's where I caught my first trout. I remember the lake bottom being EXTREMELY silty and damn nearly sunk down to my hips.

Anywhere around that area is good fishing. North of Gunnison is a pretty good spot where the three rivers converge. I'd stop in at the flyshop in Gunnison and ask around. There used to be a guy named Oscar there that was pretty helpful. Don't know if he's still around though.

The river below the dam holds some stud trouts-- fly/lure only C/R -- .. It can be crowded but maybe a fish of a lifetime.. GL

Taylor creek and Texas creek fish well as well as the other small trib can't think of the name. Hit the hog trough behind the damn for sure though but be prepared for size 26 flys and 7X. Lots of 10-20 pound trout in that short public stretch. The small tributary that I cannot think of the name of as you're heading to the damn held fish in every pool and bend was a lot of fun with dry flies
