Caught my first fish on the fly!

So, I was gifted a Winston Nexus fly rod back in July for my birthday. I finally went and got a reel for it a couple of days ago, picked up a sage 3250. And, today I got out to give fly fishing a try for the first time. Needless to say, I'm "hooked" big time! Caught a handful of panfish. The feeling of catching that first fish on the fly is a feeling I won't soon forget. No turning back now!

Congratulations! My first fly rod fish was a bluegill also. Maybe it's just me but I always find myself drawn back to them.

Keep it up! Flyfishing is one of the finer things. Always remember, fly rods ARE conventional, spinning tackle is the innovation.

Congratulations, I've found it very difficult to transition back to conventional tackle after taking up fly fishing. Glad you're hooked!

Same here! I would sell my conventional stuff if I thought I wouldnt regret it down the road. (Or if it were worth as much as the fly setup Id like)

Congrats on your first fish. The only thing to get you more addicted to fly fishing than your first fish is your first fish on a fly you tied yourself.

I will be giving that a shot for sure....just got an 8 wt and ready to give that a try! I do like the solitude of running water and a river for sure though!
