October morning on the bay - 10/15/16 10:06 PM
Beautiful morning to get out on the water. Wind was very light and the water was clear. Found reds cruising shorelines moving shrimp. Found even more trout out a little deeper going after mullet. Tried 3 flies, a rootbeer crack, a silver and gray crack, and one in white and silver. Trout all came on the light colors. Got my 4-5wt CGR in action on one 2 1/2 pound red. Plan on keeping it in action if the wind stays low. Best red went 25". I had a good trout on, 23-24", that pulled loose next to the kayak. Saw some flounder, but only got one in at 10".

This is a good time to be in the bays and marsh. Whatever crowds there might have been thin out just when the fishing generally improves. November might be even better. I cranked out a few more white and silver crack today and added another weed guard to the one that caught the most fish. Fish ripped off the last one. I don't know how much color matters, but confidence in what you toss doesn't hurt.
