8lb, 23" Bass Yesterday

It took a bluegill I'd caught. Love it when that happens.

Congrats!! Great catch. What weight rod? Did you hook the bass or was he just hanging on to the bluegill?

Thanks! The hook came out of the bluegill and into the bass just below the lip. 5 weight rod, 12lb test tippet.

Thanks! He about pulled the rod from me a couple of times but the overall fight only lasted a few minutes before he got tired. Swam away nicely though when released.

What a coincidence. I caught a bass JUST LIKE THAT ONE! the other day.

Except mine was 8 inches shorter and 6 1/2 pounds lighter.

That's one big bass. Especially on a 5 wt.
