Dink Fest at Roberts

Dink Fest at Roberts - 09/28/16 06:14 PM

The dink bass are just about everywhere on Ray Roberts. I, probably, got fifteen to twenty in the boat and every fish I caught had three to five fish chasing it. They are not big fish by any means but if you go with a three to five weight rod and small streamers they are a lot of fun. With the water cooling, some bigger fish should be showing up in the shallows soon enough.

It's funny, the spots would jump like little Tarpon, four or five good jumps each. But the largemouths didn't jump at all. They would just keep driving for the bottom. I had my camera out several times, trying to get them jumping on video. Don't have one clip of a largemouth jumping because they never did.
I have no idea what it means, just thought it was interesting.

Yea that's weird Capt that medium size lmb I caught the other day I couldn't pry off the bottom. Was really weird thought I had a catfish on. Heard several bass guys say same thing last few weeks no jumping.

The bigger fish in the photo's reminded me of a jack. I saw him take the streamer so I new he wasn't very big but he dove under the boat and just kept charging - felt like a lot bigger fish than he was. Those spots, on the other hand, they were out of the water more than in.

Whatever is biting, that's what I'm fishing for that day. If it's dinks, then so be it, LOL.

The flooding over the last couple of years is really showing the signs of what is to come. Not only am I catching a bunch of dink LMB. I'm also catching a ton of small crappie, bluegill and white bass. I'm sure hoping to see acres of white bass surfacing next year. Like the stories the old timers tell.

Great fun Capt. Thanks for sharing thumb
