Brazos Beauties, Hubcaps, & PurpleGills

Caught some nice bluegills today, big round ones we used to call hubcaps. And a purple blue gill, cool looking, don't see many of these. I'll put a bluegill against any other fresh water fish for beautiful coloration. And a couple other fish too.

They must be bitting good there, looked like a bare hook

I was using gulp minnows, and they tend to ride up off the hook and up on the line a ways when bringing these guys in.

Those are some great fish and pictures hooklinensinker!

Anybody else ever catch a purple bluegill? I think that was my second one ever. I have caught several that were more blackish in the same area that one was purple, by several I mean a half dozen this year.

The one with the red eye, that's not from the camera, that perch looked like it had a severe hangover. Can't recall seeing red eyes like that before on a bluegill.

If I remember right, the red eyes are shell cracker cross or just shell crackers. One of those pics looks like the bluffs near Blum Lloyd.
