Trout Frisco Commons Moby Dick spotted - 02/14/16 04:52 PM

Lots of small stocker trout around 6-8 inches managed to limit out including these 2 bruisers. Unable to get Moby Dick, threw everything I had without success. I swear he was taunting me swimming around near me looking at my lure then swim off.
Shout out to Carey Thorn his flies killed them 3:1 compared to other guys out there

I've been going to the Fish hatchery in Athens a couple of times a week. I catch 5-10 in an hour's fishing but they're all small. Catch them on dark olive jig flies-p-

Nice fish. Good job. cheers I went to a stocking this past January on a river in the Southwest. Parks&/Wildlife released two trout that were 24 inches in length. There was only two other anglers at the stocking besides myself. We all limited, but could not get any of the 24 inch fish to bite. Went back a couple of days later and one of the big ones followed my lure all the way back to the bank but would not take it. nuts I tried several other baits with no results. bang I did manage to limit out with five nice trout in the 9 to 10 inch range. thumb

The hatcheries use these fish to 'count' the number put in the truck or stocked in a particular area. It might be 1 per 100, or even one per a few hundred. They are a dead giveaway to where their siblings are swimming. Cool fish.

Do you guys know around what time they usually stock? (morning of, night before, etc)

I was hoping to take my daughter and fiance to the McKinney stocking this Sunday, but didn't know what time to head over there.
