Rochelle's

So has anybody posted information about Rochelle's change in canoe rental policy? They no longer rent canoes for the float from the dam. According to Mrs. Rochelle, this is the result getting back too many damaged canoes. So you can only put in and take out at her place. They still offer shuttle service, but only for your equipment.

Wow, had not heard that. Had rented from them many times.
I have tough time imagining how one could unintentionally damage a canoe on that stretch.

Yes. I agree. However, I also remember what a destructive idiot I was at 17...

Anyway, we will look elsewhere for canoes.

How is the fishing on this float?

It CAN be outstanding, but I've been skunked many times as well.
I think my best day ever was in early November when it was sleeting.
Have also been out there on cloudy March/April days when I was slaying
them on area lakes and there fish just wouldn't bite. Water has been super low
for a number of years. That with the golden algae has hurt. I think the only sound
advice I can give is to concentrate your fishing in the very early AM and late PM.
The activity really seems to pick up in the hour before dawn and just after sunset.
This is a lot easier to plan for on an overnight trip than a day float.

Well I don't live too far from Rochelle's and just started fishing the river this year. Planned on doing an overnight trip coming up in mid June. I've fished closer to the PK dam and below the west river bridge in MW but haven't attempted to fish in between yet. Water has been pretty cloudy and the fishing has been pretty slow since all this rain has came through.

Well, I hope conditions improve soon.
