Mr. Wood

Mr. Wood - 04/14/15 05:19 PM

I found out the other day that i work with a fellow TFFer - Mr. Wood. He explained to me that he was just learning to fly fish and had "questions". We decided to load up Sunday and make a run up Elm Creek and get in some practice (while catching sandies of coarse). Turns out that, for a beginer, he's a pretty darn good caster. I did'nt have to give him much instruction at all - which is probably a good thing for him. We didnt do so hot on the fish catching part though. i think we ended up with five sand bass and a catfish between the two of us but i had a great time. Mr. Wood is a laid back, easy going dude, the kind of you guy you want to be fishing with when the fishing is'nt working so well.

As i said not a lot of fish were caught but Mr. Wood and i seem to share the same enjoyment of just being out in nature and that a fishless day is not necessarily a bad day.

Yes sir, a very good day.

I appreciate the trip Capt. Mac. I still can't believe you put me on a catfish for my first fish on the fly rod haha. I had a blast though, we will definitely have to get back out there sometime.

That was a Barred Owl. Kind of saved my day. We saw a Bald Eagle crusing up the creek but before I could get my camera ready he darted off into the trees. I was kind of upset about the shot most of the morning but getting that owl certainly made up for it in my book. If you have ever done any camping at Moutaun Firk, I'm sure you've heard a lot Barred Owls at night.
