I did it!

I want to catch a carp for a loooooong time! This afternoon, I went white bass and hybrid fishing in a local creek. I threw my fly up and down the stream, caught few sand basses, hook up a hybrid, lost it very close to shore line. When I hook up this big mama, I thought it was a big hybrid. To my surprise, it was the fish I dream of catching: carp. It was my very first! I certainly hope there are many to come.

Congratulations I hope it is like walleye for me on your carp pursuit. After the first one they all just started to fall into a row. Great fish! I sure hope that ugly sucker ate a Clouser:) chartreuse and white size 6 lol

I hooked a big buffalo a few weeks ago but lost him after a long battle. They don't tire very easily so I know you had to work hard to land it.

Thank you gentlemen for your kind words. I have to admit that I did not target the carp this time. It was by-catch sort of thing, a total surprise, a good one though. He took my crappie/white bass fly:

I caught this one with my conventional gears. There were other fishmen around, I didn't want to be in other fishmen's way, took up too much room or space for myself. So I waited till others left. I did hook up a small hybrid, but lost it very close to the shore line.

Congrats Moon. Caught my first carp while fishing for stripers. Who would have thought a carp would go after 3 in white deceivers.
