Where is the closes place i can fish for Dorado, tuna and AJs? - 04/20/17 05:57 PM

Hey folks, I want to fish for these palegics from my kayak. I live in Austin and don't mind traveling with my vechicle to a spot to put in at. I was just wondering where would be the closes places in the Gulf to try for them thats in reach with my kayak?
Would it be Louisiana or do I need to go further East?

I had to look to see if this was posted 4/1/17 . No April fools joke,
but you know what 4/20 is ? right.
Deep water species are not in kayak range anywhere in the gulf.

Ambitious. There are kayak guides that catch dorado off of the southeast coast of Florida, I think in the winter, along with sailfish and kings. They also catch some dorado off of the Pensacola/Destin area from kayaks.

There are some folks and guides that have done all of those species way offshore from motherships out of Venice, and the same could be done in the Florida Keys.

Oh, and definitely dorado and tuna from Kayaks at the East Cape of Baja, Rancho Leonero and some other lodges offer these trips. Check out Jim Sammons and the Kayak Fishing Show on Carbon TV, they have episodes.

It's not exactly what you have in your head, but talk to Erik ozlins *(sp) about dropping kayaks in at the floaters and catching yellowfin... he was doing that very shortly after we learned how to fish out there. If you are willing to take a long boatride before dropping your kayak in, this and more is doable... also look on Facebook for kayak wahoo... not sure where they are, but pretty impressive
