Deep Sea Fishing Happy Day Today - 07/27/16 11:00 AM

Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Lauren and Dustin Blessing, along with Dustin’s father, Dave, and their 2 year old son, Denton, all from Texas chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Winds were out of the east at 10 mph with blue skies and temperatures in the high 80’s.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling the reefs with two plainers down both with sea witches and double hooked Bonito strips and four Bonito strips for surface baits. We trolled the reefs while Lauren, Dustin and Dave took turns bringing in their catch. One Mutton Snapper was caught in 110 ft. of water by the plainer rod, along with three Kingfish, four Tunas and 10 Bonitos.

From there, they wanted to try their luck with Shark fishing so I headed out to an area in Fort Lauderdale in 350 feet of water. We put out three Shark baits – surface, midrange and bottom. After about a 45 minute wait, we were hooked up with a Shark from the surface bait. Twenty minutes later, Dave reeled the Hammerhead Shark to the side of the boat as pictures were taken. Thereafter, Dave, our mate, released the Shark to fight another day

The family retired into the a/c salon with the TV on and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
