Seawolf Park report 10-27-15 - 10/28/15 02:37 AM

got there about 2pm, found out it is under new management and they are open 24 hrs. the lady said probably till it slows down, maybe December.

not too hot, not cold, light wind, current was somewhat strong as the tide was coming in. water was green with sandy streaks.

saw about a dozen Bullreds and a dozen Gafftops pulled from the surf rod side. the other side one guy caught a bullred and later on around 6pm I caught one on a small piece of finger mullet on an Abu Garcia 6500c3, 6'6" Berkley Lightning rod, with 20# Berkley mono, 3/0 Eagle Claw small circle hook. fought for about 10 minutes, it made a couple of hard runs, pulling drag. The mosquitos started biting, even out in the T-head. I left about 7pm, the pier was starting to get crowded.

That is an awesome fish! That's also a well-written report! I'm going to the ferry landing on Saturday. I'm going to get there as early as possible. Any founder being taken?

I have done that full combat flounder fishing in picture 2. There was 10 times that many people wading. You hook a flounder and they would immediately wade in front of you and cut you off. White Berkley Gulp is the ticket there. My son and myself caught more than the crowd combined.

i filleted the bullred and baked it on the half shell. the meat was somewhat tough. i cut it up and put it in the fridge.
my mother in law stays with us on the weekdays to take care of our 3yr old son. she took the bones and made fish stock. she also stir fried the cheeks and throat, pretty good.

i did a little searching and found court-bouillon recipe. made it tonight, pretty good, almost the same as gumbo.
