Port Aransas south jetty 3/29-3/30 - 03/31/13 10:36 PM

Yesterday and this morning on the ship channel jetty, Spanish Mackeral!

Saw a few caught on shrimp, but I was catching them on silver/white floating Rapalas, about 5 inch long. First time I have ever caught my limit.
The waves were 4-5 feet on the beach side, didn't matter caught them on both sides.

Also lost a bull red after a 15 minute fight, on a light spinnning rod, the 12 pound line finally broke at the leader. I want to thank the fellow fishermen who stood by with nets and helped clear the way as I was running back and forth on the rocks fighting that red. We did see it a few times and I was sorely disappointed to lose it.

I'd like to go scuba diving there and recover a bunch of those lost items...there's prolly thousands of pounds of lead down there...the hooks wouldn't really be much good as they rust out pretty quick...

I learned long ago that running back and forth on the jetties is no fun and dangerous. I've spent some time swimming out to recover lost gear as well. Sounds like you had a great trip!!
