Lake Georgetown - 06/15/17 05:14 PM

Reports on this lake are few and far between and TP&W doesn't even include it in their weekly fishing report.(For what that's worth)
I'm going to be there the week of the 4th. The wife likes to ultra-light perch jerk, as do I, and I'm not opposed to a couple of cats for a dinner.
Does anyone have any luck there or is it mainly just a recreational lake?

Don't perch jerk or cat fish so can't answer.

We have been fishing it since it opened. Bassin' is ok but not spectacular. We fished it almost exclusively this spring and didn't do too bad. It coughed up a couple of 5-6# and a 7. I even had a 5 species day with a large, smallie, white, hybrid and crappie and all were keepers, though not kept. We like it because it doesn't get fishing crowded.

Our nickname for it is The Beautiful Barren Bitch only because it can seem that way at times.

Taking a boat? Might fish the brush piles. It's that time of year.

There are plenty of healthy and mature perch in G'town. We live 15 minutes from it and although we usually fish Stillhouse we will at times go to G'town specifically for the sunfish. Most of them are going to be over 10' deep and relating to ledges. (I know that sounds cliche, but it's cliche for a reason.) Any wood on the ledge is a plus but not necessary. See the link below for a previous post of mine in the Bluegill section for a photo of some very nice ones caught earlier this year on worms.

You might also get lucky and find the sandies schooling and there are usually some nice hybrids mixed in. For that you are going to want small paddle tail grubs in translucent colors. They can be a little finicky and sometimes spoons just won't do the trick.

A person willing to take a good walk could certainly find some places off the bank. Deep water access is certainly not a problem from the bank. I am fortunate enough to have a boat so I haven't tried.
