Walleye fishing on Lake Ellsworth - 06/14/17 08:18 PM

I'm a bass fisherman, but a buddy of mine talked me in to trying my hand at Walleye fishing on lake Ellsworth north of Lawton. I know nothing about walleye fishing and I was hoping someone on here could give me a few pointers. Thanks

They are good to eat
They fight like wet dish rags
And they love deep water and minnows
Fish at night shallower under lights.

Deeper diving crankbaits. I would troll the dam area and the rip rap along the rail road bridges. Remember all lawton city lakes this one included you need a city permit to fish. At Ellsworth just stop in at Ralphs Resort and they will get you fixed up.

Shad raps — trolled or casted around rocks. But best bait is a very colorful, plain jig tipped with a night crawler. Fish it slow at various depths. Same as bass fishing but with a crawler. If you want artificial baits, straight tail scented worms such as powerworms on a small jig head.

If you fail there, Ft. Cobb has a good population of saugeye.

Caught a lot in Canada slowly trolling with a bottom bouncer rigged with an earthworm, leech, or minnow.
