Hydrowave
Any Hydrowave users out there? I would like to hear your experiences, good or bad, and what settings do you find most productive. Just started using one but since it's around spawn time not sure how to gauge it's effectiveness in shallow water. Would the settings differ for crappie, deeper water bass ? Thanks for any advice.

2 years ago this thread would have been packed with people who would be defending the purchase of them, now they don't even bother. Save some money and buy an underwater harmonica instead.

Don't waste your money...
Wow, didn't expect that kind of response. I was at BPS Monday and they don't even have any to sell. I heard many BASS guys are using them so I thought there was something too it. Mine came with the boat I bought but the speaker was missing and I was going to order one from the factory. Found out Hydrowave has been bought out again and called another name. Think I'll wait for more input before I buy the speaker and mount this thing. Thanks for the reviews.

I had one on my old boat. I never could tell the difference in the bite with it on or off. Actually one time I had it on and wasn't getting bit in what I thought was a productive area. Turned the unit off and on the next cast caught one. Coincidence, I don't know.

Pros get paid to have them on their boats.listen to the people that had them.

Well I guess I am one of the "old few" that support them. I have one. Had it for many years. YES it does work. (It won't necessarily catch the fish for you!) But it does make the fish more active and easier to catch. I have had service work done on my old model with good support from the company. I have had good support from the NEW folks. If you have any problems then contact John Braig. (He is on this forum.)
As for specific results: I have had boats follow me around and wonder why they were catching fish when they were close to me. I just laughed when they talked to me as they passed by.
I have seen NUMEROUS times the bait fish school up along my boat and even follow the trolling motor in schools. I have had fish school up all around my boat and had bass feed on them with the hydrowave on. And turn it off and it all the activity then dies down. I have changed the settings and started to catch fish and change back and fish not bite.
NOW the question for you is this: Is it worth the investment for your type of fishing??? Personally I do not consider a PowerPole/Talon worth MY investment because I spend most of my time fishing deeper than they will reach. Is a Side Scan Humminbird/Lowrance worth MY investment then that answer is YES (FOR ME)for my style of fishing.
I fish tournaments, so every edge I can get helps me in a tournament. I don't expect it to be a "silver bullet"! If the fish are biting more favorable on one style bait and I throw a jigging spoon in the grass then realistically it is not going to benefit! I love when other anglers do not use one or have one. One less thing I have to be concerned about!
p.s. I am not a Pro and NO I am not getting paid to promote or support their product.
Thanks for your review and comments Bigron. The hydrowave I have is the classic not the H2 so it doesn't have the features of the newer one but I guess makes the same sounds. It's concerning that they don't display or stock them at BPS anymore. When I communicated with their local rep about that this morning he wouldn't deny or even comment on it. All I need for mine is the speaker which is $60 but if the thing is just a gadget I don't want to go to the trouble of installing it. I'm mostly an off shore fisherman and use my electronics to help me find structure and cover, but you know as well as I that even when you find them you can't make them bite. If this thing gets the baitfish and bass active then I'm interested. I know Van Dam and Kriet have them on board but you can't expect them to give an honest answer when Hydrowave sponsors them. I'm going to do a little more investigating before I go any farther. Thanks for your comments, they are helpful.

I'm not affiliated with Hydrowave in any way shape or form.... I have witnessed the Hydrowave in action and am 100% certain that it works, as is the reputable lake fork guide I fished with that day, and the gentleman that brought the Hydrowave with him to the guide trip. Wihin 5 minutes of it being turned on the school we were fishing came right to the boat. Instead of making a full cast with a spoon or football jig to get bit you could just drop it nearly straight down. I will not say its some magic thing that will put more fish in the boat for you, but I will say with 100% certainty that it does make baitfish more active around the boat and it masks the sound your trolling motor makes with a more natural sound to the fish. Even if none of the other claims about the Hydrowave were true, just the ability to mask the TM noise and general boat noise makes it worth it to me. I'm not sure where the thought process of the company not standing behind their product, I've seen their reps take care of a bunch of people in the bass fishing section that were having some difficulties.

Lets put it this way, the boat I recently bought came with one on it. As soon as I got home I took it off and it's sitting in the garage with 1/4" of dust on it.

I guess I'm another one who likes mine and has seen a difference by using it. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I have never "zeroed" since I put one on my boat. I will just start on one of the settings I like on a low volume, then keep switching until I can see a noticeable difference. Once the bite stops, I just switch settings again or make it louder and watch them turn back on. I think a lot of people that weren't impressed with it didn't play with it enough to get it figured out. Just my .02
I wouldn't fish without one after seeing what mine has done. I'm also not affiliated with Hydrowave in any way (I think TH Marine bought them out by the way)

I have one and feel it does activate the fish as said above. The folks that work with Hydrowave are great. John will go out of his way to support you as he has me.

I have the original Hydrowave and use it every time I go out. I fish for bass and crappie. I have seen schools of shad come to the boat and follow it down the lake.
When crappie fishing brush piles I use the Passive Shad setting on continuous and the volume is turned up to 3/4. The longer I sit there the bigger the crappie are.
I use side imaging as well. Between these two products they have improved my catch rate substantially.
Speaker is around $30, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try.
Well, I think I'm going to give it a shot. Good or bad I'll post a review. Can't be any worse than all the useless tackle I bought because somebody else caught fish with it.
Hey Agg I have a hydrowave head unit with about 10 hrs on it, I'd be willing to part with for $100 obo.
Had to sell the boat and took off all the electronics.

Thanks for the support and the comments on the units. I like hearing the good and the bad that is the only way we can get better. I will clear one thing up KVD and Kriet were actually Part Owners of HydroWave until the sale of the company and were not sponsored by us. I have been with HydroWave a while now even before the sale to TH Marine and have seen the good and the bad with it. I will stand behind the product and will always do my very best to make sure that each and everyone of you gets taken care of. My cell number is below and will be more than happy to talk to anyone about anything HydroWave.
L58 replyed to you you via e-mail.

Re: Hydrowave - 04/21/16 07:26 PM
I've had one for several years now and can say that I have not noticed any difference in my catch rate or increasing fish/bait activity around my boat when it is on. I run mine out of habit not confidence. I do think it covers up some of the boat noise but I haven't seen any proof that it will activate fish.
I don't have my Hydrowave up and running yet, waiting for the speaker to get here which will be tomorrow, but I will get it running and leave an honest review as soon as I give it a chance. What I will say is from my personal experience, John Braig is a stand up guy who whole heartedly believes in his product and will do any and everything to see that his customers are satisfied, answer any questions you have about the product and make sure that it operating properly. Not saying I believe in the product yet, but I believe and trust in John and plan to give the Hydrowave a chance. This is a minor expense compared to the thousands of worthless lures I've bought that were GUARANTEED to catch fish. I think the name Hydrowave does not accurately describe the product and a more suitable name could be used which at this point might be a detrimental instead of promoting it. I'm not a professional so experimentation with the product will take time but I am going to give it every chance to perform. I think the Hydrowave is in better hands now with TH Marine and anglers everywhere will see a marked improvement in the performance of the product. Thanks John for your commitment to Hydrowave. I believe in you.
If Gene Eisenmann is still with the company then I'd not trust any of them any further than I could throw them. Gene lied directly to my face about the product. I have witnesses to the lie.
I also found out that the company was unable to ship in-stock product within four days when they claimed all orders were shipped within 48 hours.
That's a pile of lies that totally turned me off of the product.
I like to do a lot of Bass fishing at night during the summer months under dock lights. When I have my Hydrowave on I've had Catfish swim right up to the head of my trolling motor (within a foot of it) and just stare at it like they're trying to figure out if they should try to eat it or what it is. I've never seen anything like it in my entire life. I've never seen any big ones all of them have been less than 2 lbs. But up until I added the Hydrowave I had never had this happen and it happens about 50% of the time I go now no matter the lake.
I think Hydrowave is now in the best possible hands and TH Marine will improve the product, make it more user friendly and now they have a company rep who understands the product and will support customers who use it. Like the first level wind reel I ever had it takes a while to learn how to use it.

OH! My bad.... I didn't know you were interested in who was in the best possible hands, or will improve the product, or is it more user friendly, company reps who understand a product and customer support. I thought you wanted to know if a device worked or not. It sounds like to me you already had your mind made up long before you even used one and was looking for justification on how you spent your money.......not unlike so many others in your same position. Good luck.

Sorry, little late, Sold it to someone a few hrs after I made the post for $50.
I did want to know and got a lot of positive response from everyone but you. You have a hydrowave or just sticking your nose in with smartass comments. During and after my first post I had the time to check with BPS about the product and also investigate TH Marine. Also had some PM that you didn't see from those who had Hydrowave and used them. All provided useful info both negative and positive. So if that's the best you can provide as for as commentary you might be better suited for Facebook. See ya.
