Best place to live in Texas - 01/23/16 05:49 PM

Opinions on best centrally located place to live in Texas for:

- best LMB fishing
- best all-around fishing (LMB, stripers, smallmouth, crappie)

The less developed, the better.

For me it would be the area around Rockwall. Close enough to the city and close to all the east texas lakes

I lived in Palestine for 17 years, there are many lakes within 45 mins, including Richland-Chambers, Palestine, Athens, Limestone, Fairfield, Houston County, and Jacksonville. And Cedar Creek is just a little further, and Rayburn is within 1 1/2 hours. There are too many lakes to name that are within 2 hours or less.

I'll second Emory area. Next to Fork and the quality of lakes within a hours drive is unreal.

I like the Yantis area...I can be at any boat ramp on Fork in five minutes. 15 minutes to Sulphur Springs, Emory or Quitman. Lake Winnsboro, Quitman, Tawakoni and Cooper just a few minutes more.
