Where to bank fish on Lake Lewisville? - 10/04/15 12:37 AM

Hello,

My friend fishes Lake Lewisville, Texas, all the time, and he's showing my pictures of 20 pound plus catfish and various other fish that he catches there. Here's the problem, I do not own a boat or any sort of kayak or canoe. I'm looking to fish at Lake Lewisville, mainly because the lake is so beautiful, but I could not seem to find ANY bank fishing spots at all. Anyone know of a good bank fishing spot for catfish or bass? And if you have to pay a fee, then please tell me. smile

Thanks!

There is a park off Garza Road. You can walk down to the cut in the old dam for some good fishing. Lewisville Lake Park, Stewarts Creek Park, and Oakland Park come to mind. Lake Park charges $10 to drive in, but you can walk in free.

Any tips on bait or lures that are useful for Lake Lewisville? I'm mainly wanting to go for hybrids or catfish.

Believe it or not, I've had fair to moderate success with chicken livers for hybrids on the shoreline, and of course, they work very well for catfish too.

Other very easy hybrid bait is to catch some small sunfish & set one out under a weighted bobber.

Use ghost minnows with weight off the bottom. Ghost minnows will catch all kinds of fish from hybrids to catfish. Catch them with seine net. When i used to bank fish that's the only bait I used. Hook them in the shape of the hook and cast it out as far as you can.
