I actually live directly on the Brazos just a mile or two before you come to Glen Rose. There is little access to the river. You can access the river right under the US 67 bridge in Somervell County before Glen Rose(east of town). On the Glen Rose side(west end) of bridge you can park under the bridge and wade/hike the banks. This is where a lot of the canoe/tubers put in. Also CR 1175 crosses the Brazos just off FM 56 south of Glen Rose in Bosque County at a little community called Brazos Point(look @ Google Maps). Here you can park at the old bridge and access the river and wade the river each direction. Land every where is private but you can wade the river. There are a couple canoe/tube outfitters right by the 67 bridge that shuttle people. Consider renting a canoe and taking a short trip on the river fishing out of their boats or bring your own kayak if available.

361V.. Thanks allot for the info. I really appreciate it. The spots look good on Google maps.. Hopefully the fishing is good in those spots.. I scouted kimbal bend park down by whitney but it's closed due to high waters.. The bridge is still accessible. But i don't wanna risk getting cited or towed for walking under the bridge.. I think the property under the bridge is owned by army core of engineer's.

The Kimball Bend area is actually more of the upper lake Whitney than Brazos River. You can go many miles upriver from here by bass boat. If you are looking for more of a "river fishing" experience go to the Brazos Point area. You can wade the river here. State law gives you access to the river without trespassing. Fish the faster water areas for bass. Only problem right now is thee has been some high releases from Granbury. Last week when there was heavy rains above Possum Kingdom they were releasing tons of water from Granbury which is below PK. As of today the river is got a "medium" flow and the water is pretty clean. Perfect right now for kayak/tubes. Good luck & enjoy.

361V.. Yeah I've been reading the reports. I'm hoping I can find the fish. I don't have a boat so I usually drive around. I'm thinking they might be somewhere in between the the lakes bc of all the releases that are going on.. Maybe in the inlet to lake Whitney. Or a bit south of lake Granbury. Either way it's always a good day being out of the house fishing.

One more thing you might consider. I have heard from friends that they are catching sandbass and stripers right below the dam at Lake Whitney on the Brazos. Corp has been releasing water for a while because the lake was 15' above full pool just a month or two ago. Don't know how long these releases will last because the lake is now less than 2' above full. Bet they have decent releases for a while. During normal/low releases you can drive down and park below the dam and walk/wade downstream fishing. There is a place called Dicks Canoe downstream that has camping, cabins, canoe rentals... that we have used before to shuttle us up to the dam and we take out at his place. Can be some good bass fishing. Might even contact him with questions about the river flow. FM 22 crosses the Whitney dam. Take FM 56 south off 22 at the west end of the dam(Laguna Park). Go south a couple miles on 56 and FM 2114 Y's off to the left. Follow it a few miles to Dicks Canoes which is right where 2114 crosses the Brazos River. www.dickscanoe.com

361V:
Yeah the dam has been my spot that I have been fishing at for the past 2 weekends.. Its a hit or miss with the releases. One day I almost limited out on sandies but I wasn't prepped for stripers. I want to target catfish. Catfish weren't hitting anything below the dam. The flow was to rapid. I tried heavy sinkers and all.. current would just take it away. Stink bait was useless. After trying for cats for a while I switched and fished for sandies. Stripers are hard to target. Maybe its just my luck.
I do want to try kayak fishing so I might hit up Dicks canoes sometime.
