How many of you use motor cycle helment?

What style, functions, etc. do you recommend? Thanks

Take one with glass in the front -- it protects your eyes from a stray jighead.

I use the full head protection helmet. Covers head, face, and chin. The only problem is the face shield fogs up while stopped.

I use my flip up full face helmet when running in very cold weather.

Save Phace and a balaclava.

I have a Save Face mask I use in warmer months if raining or cool morning takeoff, but this time of year on a long run, full face helmet with flip up eye guard is best for me. I always thought it was kinda dumb until I drew a guy in a pro am years ago that had (2) in his boat.
I bought one before that next weekend...it's amazing how warm you stay compared to face shields or sock face masks.

I would have loved to had one yesterday!! Running 65mph and 38 degrees my face mask was no help

I was told years ago if you're going to wear a motorcycle helmet in a boat don't strap it.

Get the one with chin guard and full face shield,

I use my Save Phace year round. With all the surgeries done on my right eye, it is really sensitive to wind and the Save Phase keeps bugs away too.

If you get thrown out of the boat the helmet fills with water. Could cause more problems than it solves.

Full face helmet with flip up shield. Great for all the reasons listed plus eliminates wind noise. I have removed the straps so if I do go in, the helmet should pull off. Hopefully provide some protection as I fly out.

Huh. I've never given any thought to wearing a motorcycle helmet in cold weather. Really good idea!

Columbia full face mask does just fine without the bulkiness. It saves more room for baits in your storage areas...

One thing I would add is treat the shield with a product like Rain X. It will repel the water for better vision while running.

Wow how did I fish winter without one. No eye tears from the cold. Ears stayed warm. Cut out the wind noise. Worth every dollar I paid for it. If you have not tried a motorcycle helment you are missing the boat.

Acute 'problem' is drowning in your own helmet.

Cragislist, Ebay, Amazon, or their site if you want to pay full retail. They do put them on sale periodically.

Decapitating yourself would be on the extreme, but snapping your neck like a twig would be more of a concern even at much slower speeds.

Me too. I have tried everything and my $20.00 paint ball mask works as good as anything and really easy to put on and take off even with a full cloth face mask on to stay warm. Made to not fog up but put rain x on it for water to bead off.
