Anybody using 12 ft. fishing rod - 12/05/17 08:23 PM
I want to try a little distance cast in some areas I fish, because when I'm land locked it will allow me to hit those areas. When the weather not good for kayaking at least it will help. ( in theory )
Since it new to me and don't know what to ask yet. I'm just looking for some information and any expectations.

Normal surf rods are 10 to 14 feet in length, and that extra length gives you lots of extra leverage for casting. If you set the rod in a tall vertical rod holder, it helps keep your line up off the surface so it doesn't collect seaweed & stuff.

Also, try a balloon rig, and let the wind do the work.
