No telling what you might hook into when you are fishing off the IntraCoastal. We were back in a little marsh inlet catching a few reds when I tossed my Trout Support tail (Stinky Pink) up against the grass. It was on a 3/8 head so I gave it a moment to settle on the bottom before beginning my retrieve. Immediately upon winding, I knew I was hung up. I gave it few rod flips but it was not budging. I grabbed the line to pull it free or break it (20# mono) and it moved towards me like a log that was coming unstuck from the mud. Ok, I got it loose so now I'll try to pull it up to the boat and get the lure back. Hand over hand, slowly pulling it felt log like with heavy, slow resistance. I got it up to the boat, pulled it towards the surface and a gator head appeared! WTF!! I let it go but it stayed right there, slowly sinking out of sight. It took me a second to catch my breath and get my buddy to the front of the boat to see this thing. Randy had the camera ready when I pulled it up again... slowly, hand over hand (no, nothing was wound around my hands or fingers) until the head appeared again. We were laughing and filming when it finally had enough and splashed away. My estimate - snout to tip of tail - 8-10'. As he headed the other way, I pulled one last time and the jig head came free. Trout Support tails are so good, they even catch gators!
