I'm new to beach fishing, I know you can drive your truck on the beach in some places. Can you drive a RWD vehicle on the beach? i dont have anything 4x4 and wanted to ask before i got myself stuck.

I drove all the time in a 2WD on the beach. However... I was always with a group of 4WDs. Never had to use a tow from them. Drive the water line is the trick.
With that said, I have been stuck twice within 20 feet of the black top, with no 4WD friends around.
I haven't been to the beach in over 20 years, so I don't know how close you can drive to the water line.

Its best to have 4-wheel drive. Otherwise you will be risking getting stuck. Port Aransas no need for 4x4 South Padre you will need 4x4 to be sure you wont get stuck.

You can drive on the beach with RWD. Like others have said, it is safer in groups with 4WD. It is important to have a tow point at the front and rear of the vehicle and a good tow strap. I have a a RWD Ram 1500 with a rear receiver hitch and front tow hooks. You can buy used 4WD front tow hooks off Craigslist or eBay and install them fairly easily on a 2WD truck.
I go down to Surfside Beach a lot and see everything from lowered Honda Civics to jacked up Diesel Duallys on the packed beach. I also see lots of poor driving skills getting everything stuck. If you have a tow strap and a couple of cold beers, you will always find someone to pull you out.

I have seen Mustangs and Honda CVCCs stuck in the sugar sand at Three Mile Pass. I have burned 7 gallons of fuel driving my 3/4 ton 4WD truck the mile and an eighth (plus a few yards extra) from the Beach Access Road to Three Mile Pass and back when the sargasso weed was piled up two feet deep along the high tide line and no rain (or unnaturally high tides) had fallen for weeks. That loose sugar sand will get you. Damp, hard-packed sand will offer support and traction. I have a 10K winch on a receiver hitch, with a front Class 3 receiver and power plugs at both ends of the truck, just in case. A stout sand anchor is a good idea too. Having a couple of 4X4 trucks along is a fabulous idea.
Some days RWD will get it. Some days you will need 4WD. Some days you will be calling a tow truck.

a "damp" beach is always better for regular cars and minivan, the sand doesn't sink as much.
I was at a Florida beach for a week last year and the ladies who collect fees at each beach access entrance will tell you if the sand on that day is ok for regular cars to enter or not.
good luck.

You'll probably be fine, but just follow a couple of basic common sense type rules:
A- Don't be stupid about it and drive into sand that looks dry and soft even before you drive on it.
B- Probably a good idea to have a tow strap with you so if you have to go make a friend, you don't have to hope he has one.
C- If you are driving on the beach with a 2WD vehicle, it is probably best to make sure you are not the only one driving out on the beach that day.
D- If you start to dig in, don't hit the brakes. Keep steady on the gas until your forward momentum slows down, and then get off. Go let some air out the tires and see if you can get moving without digging in.

Take.a small shovel along. Don't take mudgrips on the sand. Take plenty of water in case you have to walk to get help, or just fish where you get stuck until someone else comes along.
