We have a family wedding to attend near SPI on that weekend. Although the island will be crazy crowded, I'd like to do some fishing. I usually fish POC and Aransas Pass areas in a boat. Looking for ideas. Not bringing the boat. Maybe surf fishing, jetties, maybe bring a kayak?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'd hit the jetties if the wind allows. I'd fish the jetties over the surf any day unless you really know how to target the surf. Most that catch trout in the surf do so more accidentally, they just happen to walk into them. It takes quite a lot of experience to be consistent in the surf for trout. The jetties hold more fish and concentrates them, all you have to do is find what zone they are in along the rocks and I usually start from the 2nd bar and start fishing out.

If you bring the kayak, the Mexiquita flats area should hold a few trout and a few reds.

have fun

Thanks TroutSupport,I expect it to be windy on the jetties. I like your Mexiquita Flats suggestion, but I can't find any way to get a kayak in there? Does anyone have an information about public access to this area?
