Avid bass fisherman here trying my first hand at offshore/surf fishing. I have a medium spinning rod/reel combo that i was going to use. I have 15 lbs fluro on now. Bought some braid and got some steel leaders. Other than that I haven't a clue! We will probably be grabbing some live shrimp and using them on popping corks. I hear jigs are good as well. Any recommendations or tips would be much appreciated. We will be there all this coming week. I'd be happy to come back here and report how we do.

If you ain't first you're last.

Use mono leader in the bay, not steel leader.

I just left there. Surf was chocolate. Only saw hardheads reeled in. I didn't even bother getting my rod out of the truck.

Usually wade fishing in POC. I have never claimed to know what I am talking about....
