Pay attention to the tides. A moving tide is the key. Horace Caldwell and Bob Hall piers are big producers at night for trout with live shrimp under lights. The jetties are always good. An outgoing tide is best in the channel, an incoming tide is best surfside. Bring lot's of terminal tackle and patience. Don't get hurt or be foolish. Know your limitations and be safe!

I'm not a chick.

What type of rods and reels will you be using? Artificial baits or natural? Do you mind wading, or do you prefer to stay dry?

at night, any place with lights, throwing a glow speck rig, that would be easiest. The causeway in between portland and corpus is always a easy place for trout.
